About The Club

Our goal is to promote Firearm Safety and Sportsmanship.

The primary interest here at CSC is muzzle loading. However, we do shoot all types of firearms such as Black Powder Cartridge, 22 rim fires and most Modern types of firearms.

Our range facilities consist of a 25, 50, 75, and 100 yard modern open range. We have two wooded Trail Walks for the muzzle loaders and he 22 shooters.

For the archer we have a primitive bow 3D course. Recurve and Compound bow are welcome.

The Flint River runs along side the Club grounds. Catfish, Pike, Walleye, and Bass are caught from the banks. A valid fishing license is required.

Camping is allowed and we have several modern electrical hook-up areas as well as a Primitive area for the purest. The cost for electrical hook-up is $5 a day. You may leave your camp setup for a period of two weeks only.

Hours of Operation

Shooting hours are from sunrise to sunset with the exception of special events such as a Candle Light Shoot.

ABSOLUTELY NO SHOOTING ALLOWED BEFORE OR AFTER THESE TIMES.

A "Primary Member" (Example: Father or Mother) must accompany the "Secondary Member" (Son or Daughter, regardless of age) when using the facilities.

Outdoor Range and Operations and Guidelines

All outdoor rifle/pistol ranges are open year round, unless reserved for a scheduled event or work bee. The main gate must be kept closed at all times during long range shooting and a warning sign posted at the gate. If you see this warning sign, DO NOT open the gate and drive in. Follow the instructions posted and call for a "Cease Fire". Anyone shooting long range is responsible for posting the sign.

All firearms must be unloaded and cased while transporting to and from the range.

No Alcohol or controlled substances are allowed on the range or consumed prior or during live fire. Intoxication will not be tolerated; violators will loose shooting privileges. (Subject to disciplinary action by the Board of Directors: See Article #13 of the By-Laws).

All shooters are responsible for cleaning their own area including the removal of used targets and the returning all club equipment to its storage area. Containers are located at the range for unwanted trash.

Safety and courtesy is expected and practiced at all times. Destruction or misuse of club property WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.

Steel targets are for the use of lead bullets ONLY! All jacketed bullets MUST use paper targets ONLY!

No tracer rounds due to the possible fire hazard.

Appropriate eye and ear protections recommended on the range at all times, including spectators.

No 50 Cal. BMG class or full auto or unsafe or questionable firearm may be used here at CSC.

Single shot loading is preferred; however semi-auto controlled fire is permitted. ( Controlled fire is considered as being no more than one shot every two seconds and making contact with the target only). Flat ground is not a suitable backstop.

No cross firing. Target position and shooting points must be perpendicular to one another. Paper targets are to be stapled to the cardboard backers and mounted on the wooden stringers only. Absolutely NO GLASS TARGETS. In addition, bird and buckshot MAY NOT be used on our standard wooden target frames.

All firearms will be benched or pointed in a safe direction until the command of : "Commence Fire" is given by the range officer.

On the first command of :"Cease Fire", all muzzles should be pointed in a safe direction. If your firearm is loaded, report this to the range officer and follow his commands. When all is clear you will be given instructions to fire or unload your loaded firearm.
